Do You Know What’s Really In Your Water?
Water is one of the most fundamental resources to life on this planet, and most people take it for granted. There’s a good chance that you simply get water out of the tap, drink it, and never think anything about it. However, in most cases, there are a lot of substances in your water that you may not be aware of. In some cases, these include environmental toxins can be detrimental to your health. Here are a few things that you might find in your water:
Fluoride
Fluoride is a substance that has been added to drinking water for many years, and most people believe it to be safe. However, in recent years, there has been a growing movement that claim it is actually harmful. Recent studies, like the one done by the Harvard School of Public Health, provide evidence that it can be. These studies seem to indicate that it tends to negatively impact the IQ level of developing children and those who drink it regularly.
Chlorine
Chlorine is another item that you can often find in your drinking water. The purpose of putting chlorine in drinking water is to remove bacteria and other items. The downside to this is that it can cause carcinogenic compounds to form in the water, which lead to cancer.
Pesticides and Herbicides
Pesticides and herbicides are often found in drinking water. These can make their way into both city water and well water in rural areas. With pesticides and herbicides in the water, they can lead to a number of health problems. At first glance, this may not seem like a big deal, since they also make their way onto most of the food supply. However, they are definitely toxic, and have been known to cause a number of health problems. Some pesticides have you been known to cause sex changes in some frogs. While this obviously isn’t a concern for humans, it can lead to problems with estrogen production in the body.
Pharmaceuticals
Another big problem with the water supply is that it often contains pharmaceuticals. When people throw pharmaceuticals away or flush them down the toilet, they can make their way into the water supply. Even when people take them as they should, they can still make it through to the water supply. The problem with this is that they are very difficult to filter out of water.
Radioactive Substances
In some cases, radioactive substances like uranium and radium can make their way into the water supply. These substances can get into the water supply when a nuclear power plant has a leak or just from nuclear testing. It is also used in a number of regular household items like microwaves.
Regardless of whether you want to get clean water for your commercial business office or for your home, there are steps that you can take to accomplish this. Find out what is in your water and then consider filtering it before drinking it. This can go a long way toward helping you improve your health.
